A woman at Journey read this poem at an event we call “Journey’s Got Talent.”  She read several original poems and I was so blessed that I asked her permission to post one here.  Enjoy!

Autumn Ascension

by Christina Carnegie

Their glory gone,

banners once held high

slowly descend;

skies once bright with light

now darken into night.

Warmth suspends

as  cold descends,

when summer fails

and fall prevails.

Fragrant flags of color

scatter brightly over soil;

claiming their glory,

transforming them into

supernal sustenance of spring.

And nature hold its breath–

waiting in silence–

waiting in stillness–

waiting in faith for

a reality not sustained in futility.

All creation waits in humility

three months of  sacred sacrifice,

for return,

for renewal,

for rebirth unto former  glory.
