My Passion in Life…….

February 25, 2010 — 1 Comment

is to go to go to Heaven and take as many people with me as possible, so I love this quote I just found from John Wesley.

“You have nothing to do but to save souls.  Therefore spend and be spent in this work.  And go not only to those that need you, but to those that need you most…It is not your business to preach so many times, and to take care of this or that society; but to save as many souls as you can; to bring as many sinners as you possibly can to repentance.”–John Wesley

What’s your passion?

    Definitely!
I’ve struggled with this topic for a long time. One day God told me, “It’s not your job to win people over, it’s your job to plant the seed and let it grow.”
For so long I’ve wanted to watch people get “saved” and become passionate about Christ, however when I saw that wasn’t necessarily happening the way I thought it should, I became really discouraged. Then God said, “I’ve called you to build relationships. Do what I’ve called you to do, and I will take care of the rest.”

I think a lot of people think that in order to be effective for Christ they have to be evangelists and win over the multitudes. While some people are given the gift of evangelism, there are four other gifts not to be overlooked. That is a hard lesson, but very necessary lesson for us as Christ followers to understand. Not everyone has the gift of evangelism, nor is everyone called to be a pastor, prophet, teacher, or apostle. We are all called to be “fishers of men” and followers of Christ.

Building relationships one-on-one is just as important as preaching to hundreds of thousands of people — the seed is still being planted. You just have to listen to your calling and obey God. The rest is up to the Holy Spirit. Plant the seed, have faith, and listen and obey God.
