Definitely!
I've struggled with this topic for a long time. One day God told me, "It's not your job to win people over, it's your job to plant the seed and let it grow."
For so long I've wanted to watch people get "saved" and become passionate about Christ, however when I saw that wasn't necessarily happening the way I thought it should, I became really discouraged. Then God said, "I've called you to build relationships. Do what I've called you to do, and I will take care of the rest."

I think a lot of people think that in order to be effective for Christ they have to be evangelists and win over the multitudes. While some people are given the gift of evangelism, there are four other gifts not to be overlooked. That is a hard lesson, but very necessary lesson for us as Christ followers to understand. Not everyone has the gift of evangelism, nor is everyone called to be a pastor, prophet, teacher, or apostle. We are all called to be "fishers of men" and followers of Christ.

Building relationships one-on-one is just as important as preaching to hundreds of thousands of people -- the seed is still being planted. You just have to listen to your calling and obey God. The rest is up to the Holy Spirit. Plant the seed, have faith, and listen and obey God.

Ebert is an amazing examples to those of us who are Christ followers: we should all follow his example of being positive even when everything around us tells us otherwise and live vicariously through the One who can be our everything that we know we can't be -- Our Saviour.

Interesting. I will definitely have to check it out. I've heard of it.
I agree that we should reach out to the unbelievers because Jesus didn't just hang out with those who believed He was the Son of God, rather he hung out with the most despised people, taxcollectors.

Definitely going to take a look at this book.

Mr. Sizemore was a wonderful man. He worked closely with the Cambodian ministry at Westside Christian Church. He and his wife Mrs. Helen ministered with their lives to that small cambodian congregation in the late 80's. They shared their home and always gave genuine hugs. Mr. Sizemore baptized me when I was 7 years old. I will always remember him... He was definitley a pillar of God's love and a faithful servant...

I owe such a debt of gratitude to the Sizemores for all they did for my parents when my dad Melvin Greenway first went into ACC. They housed him in their basement and helped him get started into the ministry in so many ways. Through the years of his ministry they both were such an encourangement to my parents. Their compassion and love at the deaths of both my parents meant so much to my brother and I. There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Sizemore is talking and walking with God right now and I hope he's found my parents too!

I first met Denver Sizemore in the fall of 1970. I was a very young and naive 18 year old, and thought that his old-fashioned way of teaching was "uncool." It didn't take me long to change my mind. What amazed me about Prof. Sizemore was his patience with his students. I dropped out of ACC in '73, but returned in '78. He took me under his wings and helped me obtain a scholarship that helped this poor student with a wife and three children. I will never forget his words of encouragement during those last two years at ACC. I am still using the material from his classes. His legacy is eternal, and will be sorely missed.
